Accountant
Key responsibilities
Ten 20 Butchery — 80% of the role
- Take overall responsibility for the accounting function of Ten 20 Butchery.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including sales, purchases, expenses, payments, and reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate financial records in Xero.
- Manage and reconcile sales and transaction data from Foodics.
- Ensure daily Foodics sales are accurately recorded and reconciled with Xero and other payment channels.
- Perform bank, food aggregator, cash, credit card, and payment gateway reconciliations.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Track supplier invoices, payments, and outstanding balances.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and reconcile physical inventory with system records.
- Take ownership of product and food costing, including raw materials, packaging, wastage, and associated costs.
- Calculate and monitor COGS, food cost percentages, and gross margins.
- Monitor purchasing costs and supplier price changes.
- Analyze product profitability and identify margin issues.
- Monitor wastage, stock variances, shrinkage, and inventory discrepancies.
- Work closely with management and purchasing teams to ensure accurate costing and pricing.
- Prepare monthly P&L, gross profit, sales, expense, inventory, and costing reports.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Ensure accounting records are accurate, complete, and up to date.
Other group companies — 20% of the role
- Manage the accounting books and financial records of two smaller companies within the group.
- Maintain their accounts in Xero and ensure transactions are recorded accurately.
- Handle bank and account reconciliations.
- Prepare basic financial reports and P&L statements.
- Ensure the books of both companies remain accurate and up to date.
- Coordinate with management regarding any financial or accounting matters relating to these companies.
Must-have requirements
These requirements are essential:
- Must be able to read Arabic.
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience.
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience using both Xero and Foodics.
- Proven experience working with Xero on a day-to-day basis.
- Proven experience working with Foodics POS and reconciling Foodics with accounting records.
- Strong understanding of food and product costing is essential.
- Excellent understanding of COGS, food cost %, gross margin, inventory valuation, wastage, stock variance, and product yields.
- Experience in a butchery, restaurant, café, catering, food retail, or similar F&B environment is highly preferred.
- Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Important
Hands-on experience with both Xero and Foodics is mandatory. Candidates without practical experience using both systems will not be considered.
Strong food/product costing experience is also mandatory for this position.
